And Now for Something Completely Different

As part of my recovery from losing Milo I decided in December of 2022 that I should explore the possibility of getting another dog. I was not quite ready but I figured it would take a while to find a breeder and would probably have to wait a few months.

When I decided to move forward I expected the process would take 6 months or so. As I investigated breeders I found a breeder who is local to me. When I reached out I was surprised to learn that they had some puppies which were born in September and would be ready in about 2 weeks. Since I was not expecting this I needed to do a lot research about the breeder and also was I really ready for a new dog.

After some long discussions with family and friends I decided to arrange a visit to the breeder. While I was interested in getting another dog I was still very unsure. While speaking with my brother he made a comment about the up coming visit to meet the puppies. He told me to bring the required deposit in case I decided to move ahead with getting a new puppy.

Up until the moment I met the puppies I was still very unsure about what to do. After I spent sometime playing with the 6 puppies and discussing the puppies with the breeder I knew I was getting a new friend. This was the start of a new adventure in my life and the next 10 days were probably the longest time I had to endure to wait for my new friend. During these 10 days I discussed names with my brother and while some of his suggestions did not quite feel right he finally came up with the perfect name.

“Nessie”

As you can probably tell she is very mischievous. Nessie loves to explore and definitely loves people and other animals. I have forgotten what it is like to have a new puppy and how challenging it can be to try and train both her and myself. Another challenge is someone is quite stubborn and if she decides she is not going to do something…well we have a fight on our hands.

On to more adventure.
